这部电影的主人公叫做奥多尔，在他人生开始出现巅峰的时刻，他的女友却突然告诉他她已经怀孕，在最后一次篮球比赛中，他放弃了比赛选择了女友。然而，在今后的几十年里，他把自己人生事业的不如意都归结于他的妻子，每天都生活在抱怨中。然而一次偶然的机会他爹尽世间漩涡回到了十七岁，开始以新生份接触自己的妻子和儿女。他发现自己几乎没有认真了解妻子的爱好，也几乎没有真正走进孩子们的内心，之后他以儿子同学的身份帮助妻子设计了后院，帮助儿子进了篮球队，帮助女儿找到正确的恋爱观。当他再次上演十七岁那一幕时，戏剧性的是他还是选择了妻子，对她说爱她。
令我感触颇深的是奥多尔重返十七岁后，以新身份再次走进家人的时候，他对家人所表现的关怀那是他以前从未有过的举动。他以过来人的经验让儿子树立了自信成为一名优秀的球员，让女儿也有了正确的爱情观，避免走了弯路，这里流露出深深的父爱。以及他再次面对妻子，发现了妻子许多优点，而这恰恰被原来的他忽略了，他尊重了妻子的爱好，帮助了她完成了后院，以及在法庭上及时阻止了妻子的离婚诉讼，可见他内心对妻子深深的爱。
