巴德·舒尔伯格1914年3月27日～2009年8月5日，生在美国纽约州纽约城，95岁时去世。作为国际知名的编剧、作家，由巴德·舒尔伯格担任编剧的好莱坞影片《码头风云》最为人知晓，该片的领衔主演是马龙·白兰度。他写的《“精彩极了”和“糟糕透了”》入选义务教育课程标准实验教科书语文5年级上册第19课课文，让大家更好知道巴德舒尔伯格。
1914年3月27日生于美国纽约，其父亲是派拉蒙影片公司的老板本杰明·斯楚伯特。母亲是左翼作家。生活在充满浓浓的书香气的富有家庭，自小喜欢写诗。他记得，八岁那年写完第一首诗让父母评分，父亲说“糟糕透
了！”母亲则说“精彩极了！”“他们教会了我，不能因为别人的否定，而丧失勇气；也不能因为别人的赞扬，而自我陶醉。” 这个故事，就写在《“精彩极了”和“糟糕透了”》里面。 《“精彩极了”和“糟糕透了”》文章被选入人教版[2]五年级上册第19课。和长春版教材六年级上册3单元第2课
舒尔伯格深受母亲阿狄娜影响。三十年代初，阿狄娜从莫斯科回来，带给儿子许多苏维埃短篇小说。由此，舒尔伯格熟读高尔基的《母亲》和《仇敌》，书里讲述工人运动，塑造富有斗争精神的工人形象；他又熟读伊萨克·巴别尔的《红色骑兵军》。他回忆：“深夜，我亮灯埋头苦读，多么希望有一天，我的作品可以列入类似的文选里。”
巴德-舒尔伯格17岁起为派拉蒙写宣传稿，吹捧一些明日之星，但是在好莱坞耳濡目染多年的巴德-舒尔贝格却成为了好莱坞审美取向和商业制作模式的彻头彻尾的反叛者。在达特茅斯学院接受教育之后，他开始是电影剧本审读员，接着成为一个电影剧本作家。1937年加入了共产党， 1939年当共产党要他在一部长篇小说中反应党的教义而退党。1941年，27岁的舒尔伯格凭借小说《萨米如何飞黄腾达》出道，小说讲述了一个在纽约一家报社中打杂的小子如何凭借偷窃、说谎、欺骗等卑劣手段爬上好莱坞电影公司制作总监的宝座。由于小说中有许多影射好莱坞大佬路易-梅尔的情节，令后者勃然大怒，扬言要将舒尔贝格驱逐出境。好在舒尔贝格的老爸B.P. 舒尔贝格当时位高权重，由于他的求情，路易-梅尔才没有追究。不过，这部小说令年轻的舒尔贝格一鸣惊人，尤其是他通晓的内幕之多，虽然令好莱坞感到好奇、着迷，却又不得不视他为“叛徒”。多年以后，在谈起处女作中的原型时，舒尔贝格一针见血地指出：“我所勾勒的不是一个人，而是一种行为方式。”
二战爆发后，舒尔贝格供职于CIA的前身“战略服务泯灭办公室”，空闲时间则撰写短篇小说，并拍摄与战争有关的纪录片。他是第一批进入奥斯威辛集中营，并用摄像机记录下其中惨剧的人。战后为纽伦堡审判收集证据而荣获陆军荣誉勋章。国际法庭放映希特勒的御用女摄影师里莱妮·雷芬斯塔尔作品时，舒尔伯格出庭作证，对照影片中的纳粹分子，并指证她的《意志的胜利》是帮助希特勒宣传纳粹活动。 “我在这场审讯里，担任总管。我带着逮捕令去找莱妮·雷芬斯塔尔，她一见到逮捕令，就尖叫起来。我安慰她，法庭不会审讯她，她只是担任证人。”舒尔伯格口若悬河，显然对这次任务甚感得意。
50年代初，美国弥漫着白色恐怖。美国参议员麦卡锡煽起全国反共运动，名为麦卡锡主义。他大肆渲染共产党侵入政府和舆论界，促使成立「非美调查委员会」（指所谓违反美国利益的活动），搜集黑名单，煽动文艺界和政府部门互相揭发，许多著名人士受到迫害，如谐星差利卓别林和原子弹之父奥本海默，他们被控向苏联透露机密。1952年舒尔伯格的共产党党员身份被揭露了，他自愿出席「非美调查委员会」作证，很合作地供出一些与他志同道合的共党朋友名单。自此，舒尔伯格众叛亲离。 其实舒尔伯格早已退党近十年。他解释，1934年曾经亲自赴莫斯科与巴别尔等进步作家会晤，但是，十年后这班人全部“人间蒸发”了，其中巴别尔更被指控犯了间谍罪，1940年被枪决。
1948年，《纽约太阳报》的一篇通过讲述纽约码头工人被老板压榨剥削，揭示美国底层工人悲惨生活现状的报道引起了舒尔贝格的注意。曾执导《欲望号街车》的好莱坞导演伊莱亚-卡赞有意导演以此为题材的影片，用来回应好友阿瑟-米勒指控自己因受到“麦卡锡主义”的阵营“非美运动调查委员会”的审问而出卖朋友。原本，伊莱亚-卡赞希望阿瑟-米勒撰写剧本，但后者因为受到以大制片厂为首的“麦卡锡主义者”的迫害而予以拒绝。卡赞不得不转而求助舒尔贝格。舒尔伯格出身富贵家庭，当然不知道民间疾苦，也不了解码头工人生活状况。他首先认识了一位天主教神父，获得一些关于工会贪污腐败数据。然后，他花了一年时间，混入码头酒吧，与工人彻夜豪饮，搜集资料写剧本。“我在酒吧里只听，不说。我喝那种啤酒混合威士忌的酒，和工人打成一片。”终于写成剧本 。由马龙·白兰度、卡尔-马尔登等人主演，马龙·白兰度在《码》饰演的码头装卸工人特里，曾经是职业拳击手，血气方刚，是码头工会头目的跑腿。特里因牵涉到凶杀案，遭黑帮追杀。最后码头工人觉醒了，向各种势力展开斗争。从这部电影里，可以窥见50年代初，美国工会组织内部的腐败坠落。 《码头风云》在1954年上映，荣获了第27届奥斯卡最佳影片、最佳导演、最佳故事剧本、最佳男主角等8项大奖。此后，舒尔贝格又与卡赞合作了讲述草根明星深陷政治泥潭的《登龙一梦》，同样广受好评。
1947年，舒尔贝格出版了讲述一名拳击手悲惨一生的小说《拳击场黑幕》，1955年，这部小说被搬上银幕，成为了硬汉亨弗莱-鲍嘉的“绝唱”。 六十年代舒尔伯格的兴趣转移至写体育文章，与拳王阿里关系密切。 仍然喜欢谈政治 到晚年，舒尔伯格最爱回忆的是：1968年前总统约翰·肯尼迪的胞弟罗伯特·肯尼迪遇刺身亡时，他在现场。当日，罗伯特赢得民主党加州初选，笃定成为该党总统候选人，舒尔伯格和一班作家出席洛杉矶「大使饭店」庆功宴，他站在罗伯对面，枪手开火后便冲向他。「我看得很清楚洛，凶手很矮小。」 「罗伯特身边没有正式护卫。联邦调查局局长埃德加·胡佛因为与肯尼迪有过节，没派人去保护罗伯特；连当时的市长也仇恨罗伯特。只有一些业余护卫，如足球员格里尔（Rose Grier）出来充当罗伯的保镳。」舒尔伯格忆述，罗伯遭枪击后，他们一行人返回罗伯酒店房间，格里尔伤心又自责，认为全是他的过失。「格里尔倒卧床上，双眼反白。」舒尔伯格说。 [3]1971年他在纽约使创办《弗雷德里克·道格拉斯创作艺术中心》，所著《电影--一个好莱坞王子回忆录》描写了他这在一美国电影业中心所渡过的少年时代。2009年在家中去世。

楼上说得不对！彩色影片是1906年诞生的，但因为代价太高在当时并不普及，直到50年代才在商业上普及起来。39年的乱世佳人是彩色的！世界第一部彩色故事片是1935年拍摄的《浮华世界》(美国 )马摩里安 导演
1939年拍摄《乱世佳人》时，导演George Cukor 选择了彩色胶片。
从而给我们留下了无比壮丽的画面
我印象里《乱世佳人》后来由于色彩老化，对原胶片进行过一次修复工作
《罗马假日》为何是黑白片，恐怕是因为当时彩色电影技术仍不十分成熟，而且惠勒那样的老资格导演恐怕也更习惯于拍摄黑白片
